USB Atari Joystick
Legacy Engineering Group
The Atari joystick has a long history as a game controller. It was the standard controller in the early days of game systems and microcomputers and was used by most systems until the gamepad replaced it.
I spent many hours playing TRS-80 games with the Big Five TRISSTICK, which was an Atari joystick with a TRS-80 interface. When I think of a game controller, I think of an Atari joystick.
It’s not hard to find used Atari joysticks that work with older computers, but I have wondered why no company sells a version for modern computers.
Now Legacy Engineering Group, better known for co-developing the Atari Flashback 2.0, has released the “Classic USB Joystick Controller”. It is a perfect replica of the Atari joystick, but with a USB interface that is recognized by Windows, Linux, and Mac OSX. It costs $14.99, with further discounts for buying more than one.
They recommend their Joystick Controller for emulation and I suspect it would be ideal for that. You can find out more at the product page at the Legacy Engineering Group Store.

I bought two and I love them. So far, I have modded one to add extra weight (bothered me ever since 1978 they were so light) and I plan on modding the other (bought two) with extra function buttons. Great joystick! WELL worth the wait :)
