In the early days of microcomputers, books containing “type-in” BASIC programs were common. The “32 BASIC Programs” series by Tom Rugg and Phil Feldman was one of the most widely published across computers.

Each book featured 32 programs in six categories: applications, educational, graphics, games, mathematics, and miscellaneous. Later books added seven extra programs across these categories.

The text across the series was largely identical, with program content and screenshots tailored for each computer.

The TRS-80 book was the second in the series after the Commodore PET version.
